JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono allowed an audit of the procurement a Presidential plane Boeing 737-800 Business Jet 2 by the Ministry, State Secretariat.
In a friendly meeting with journalists at the State Palace in Jakarta Monday night, the President also wished a transparent procurement of the 91 million US dollars plane."Nothing must go wrong, everything needs to be accountable, and auditable."
The President also made clear that the procurement of the presidential plane from Boeing Company in the United States is not for a personal use. The plane will be completed and sent to Indonesia in August 2013. Thus, the President said, he enjoys the plane only a year.
The plane, he said, has been procured after considering efficiency, compared to leasing aircraft from PT Garuda Indonesia. "The wish to have a Presidential plane has long been made when we realized that leasing Garua planes is more expensive and could disrupt Garuda’s operations."
The President said a Presidential plane is favorable in the long term to enable the next administrations to become more efficient in managing the state budget.
