AFP Parade participants perform in Jakarta street on June 19, 2010 making a parody of the media and the Indonesian celebrities involved in a sex scandal as Jakarta celebrates its 483rd anniversary. Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said his country must not stand naked before modern information technology, signalling his support for an Internet filter to block porn. The worlds most populous Muslim-majority country has been scandalised by the recent online release of homemade X-rated videos apparently showing popular local celebrities engaging in hardcore sex.

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian Commission for Child Protection (KPAI) urged Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) to take a strict measure on celebrities porn videos that are getting more inevitable and forcing police to take an immediate action over the case. KPAI also urged MUI to call for a haram fatwa over porn videos allegedly starred by the celebrities and easily accessed by children.

"As far as I recall, MUI declared the fatwa over pornography in 2001 but we have scarcely found the strict measure lately," said the chief of KPAI, Hadi Supeno at MUI office in Jakarta, July 6, 2010. On the eve of MUI's national work conference, KPAI proposed MUI to include pornography cases in Indonesia as its agenda.

Hadi stressed pornography as a very serious issue as it causes addiction and stimulates children to copy what the celebrities did on the scenes. "Just imagine, 50 percent of boys want to take them as their role models, while the number reaches 35 percent on girls," stated him. (C12-09)
