JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - At least 80 five-foot stands at the Senen market have been charred. The news was confirmed by the Area II manager of PD Pasar Jaya, Ivo Edwin Ariyanto at the Senen district government office, Bungur Raya street, Thursday.

"Most of the goods and materials burnt are plastic and clothes," he stated after monitoring the ongoing process to put out the fire today. As observed by Kompas.com, Gunung Sahari street had been closed off from Bangau street to the busway shelter.

The road block was to give space for dozens of fire-engines on the street trying to douse the billowing fire on the building. The fire on the building bordering on Gunung Sahari street was still flaring when the fire engines came and the fire-fighters were doing their best to put it out. (Caroline Damanik/C17-09)
