National Police Chief, General Bambang Hendarso Danuri

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Comr. Gen. Police Susno Duadji states that Insp. Gen. Police Hadiatmoko was appointed by the National Police chief to oversee the murder case of Nasrudin Zulkarnaen, director of PT Putra Rajawali Banjaran, as the head of the investigation supervisor team. But he didn't know the reason for this appointment, thus the legal counsel of Antasari Azhar, the accused in this case, now requests that the National Police chief, Gen. Police Bambang Hendarso Danuri be summoned to trial to clarify the matter.

Hadiatmoko appointed

"I wasn't involved in the team because the National Police chief appointed my deputy chief detective (Hadiatmoko) as the head of the investigation supervisor team," Susno admitted during the trial of Antasari Azhar, South Jakarta State Court, Thursday.

Susno stated that, other than the head of the investigation supervisor team, Hadiatmoko was also appointed by the National Police chief, Gen. Police Bambang Hendarso Danuri, to lead the fact finding team for Antasari's motivation in the case. "He (Hadiatmoko) didn't report to me, but to the one who gave the order (the National Police chief). If he had reported to me, he'd be at fault."

Susno explained that, the investigation supervisor was to oversee the whole investigation process. "Every case has an investigation supervisor. The supervisor is proactive in monitoring the investigation. He's the referee. This is to prevent misconduct by the investigator."

However, when asked about the purpose and function of the motivation fact finding team, Susno was unable to answer. "I don't know. Ask the head of the team (Hadiatmoko)."

Antasari's legal representative, Juniver Girsang, said that Hadiatmoko at a previous trial had testified and denied his involvement in the investigation of Nasrudin's murder. "Hadiatmoko in his testimony denied his involvement in the investigation."

Calling for the National Police chief

"The National Police chief should be called to this trial," said Juniver Girsang, to the presiding judge, Herri Swantoro after Susno testified.

Juniver thinks that the National Police chief should be called because Susno mostly answered that he didn't know regarding the appointment of Insp. Gen. Hadiatmoko to be the head supervisor of the investigation and also to lead the motivation fact finding team for Antasari's case.

And when asked whether Hadiatmoko had an interest as the head of the supervisor team, Susno answered, "Anyone who was appointed must have an interest, especially as a general. What the interest may be, only he and God knows."(SAN/C17-09)
