JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian shares closed flat Tuesday with continued foreign buying in telecommunication and consumer-related stocks lending support, dealers said. The Jakarta Composite Index added 0.14 points to 2,483.89 in light trade.
“Foreign buying lifted the main index from its low and kept overall sentiment healthy,” a trader told Dow Jones Newswires. Telkom rose 1.1 percent to 9,400 and car distributor Astra added 1.4 percent to 33,850 rupiah.
Coal miner Bumi Resources fell one percent to 2,475 while parent Bakrie & Brothers dropped 3.2 percent after reporting weak nine-month earnings. The rupiah ended at 9,455 to the dollar compared to 9,450 at the last close.
