BANDAR LAMPUNG, KOMPAS.com - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on Richter scale rocked North Molucca at 0.51 Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on Saturday. The epicenter of the earthquake is recorded at 1.92 degrees northern latitude, -128.59 degrees eastern longitude, some 185 km northeast of Ternate, North Molucca.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Office (BMKG) said on Saturday the earthquake took place at a depth of about 196 km, saying it had no potential to create a tsunami. Its location is 310 km northeast of Labuha, North Molucca, 314 km southeast of Melonguane, North Sulawesi, 381 km northeast of Bitung, North Sulawesi and 393 km southeast of Tahuna, North Sulawesi.
