House of Rep. spokesman Marzuki Alie (left) receives document with 139 signatures of members of House of Rep. for rights of inquiry for Century Bank (12/11/09).

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Senior Golkar Party  politician Zainal Bintang has asked former Vice President Jusuf Kalla to speak up about the Bank Century scandal.  "Former Vice President Jusuf Kalla knows a lot about the Bank Century case and therefore we call on him  to speak up," the Golkar senior politician  said here on Friday.

He said Jusuf Kalla should show his great  spirit as a "father of the nation" and explain the Bank Century scandal which had caused the state to lose trillions of rupiah. Kalla should throw light on many unclear things in the Bank Century case  to avoid frictions and chaos in the government, Zainal  said.

"When Jusuf Kalla was vice president, he once said the Bank Century case fraught with criminal acts," Zainal said.
He added  the scandal that had inflicted a loss of  Rp6.7 trillion on the state should  be explained by Jusuf Kalla because the case came up when he was vice president in  President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s first administration.

"It means Jusuf Kalla should also speak up about the case to give inputs to the House of Representatives (DPR) inquiry team, because based on my observations in the field, many parties expected Kalla to reveal it," Zainal Bintang said. Therefore, he expressed hope that the former vice president would be ready to explain everything about the Bank Century scandal to the House of Representatives.
