JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Commission III chairman Benny K Harman asked his members not to bring-up the case of Bibit Samad Rianto and Chandra M. Hamzah, the non-active Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) high-officials, that triggered the controversy between the KPK chief, the police, and the attorney general's office (AGO). He stated this in a follow-up meeting, Thursday, at the People's Consultative Council (DPR) building, Jakarta.
"I ask that we all no longer inquire about that case (Bibit-Chandra's), because it's done," said Benny at the start of the meeting.
He hoped that the commission members could instead inquire and give suggestions on how the law enforcing institutions should act, especially for the National Police and AGO. "This is so the police and AGO can take the proper legal course," said this politician from the Democratic party.
The commission members were also asked to develop a coordinating agenda between the three institutions, especially for the KPK, to execute their coordination functions. Benny said that the KPK Law firmly states the coordination function that KPK should perform and how it should inquire information. "At whatever point the KPK has performed this coordination function, then from there we could elaborate," he said.
The working meeting today was the follow-up for a meeting that had taken place earlier this morning. (ING/C17-09)
