JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian stocks traded 0.19 percent higher Friday morning on gains made by banking and cigarette industry shares. The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) at the Indonesian Stock Exchange (BEI) rose 4.610 points or 0.19 percent to 2,424.891 points, while the LQ-45 index slightly went up 1.192 points or 0.25 percent to 478.165 points.
The trading session was quite active as investors hunted small-cap shares of bank and cigarette industries in particular, according to Edwin Sinaga, a domestic stock market observer. "The shares were expected to further go up as their selling prices were still relatively low," he said. He expressed optimism that the domestic market would remain l positive because the index was expected to move further up to 2,450 points.
BRI shares rose Rp 100 to Rp 7,400, BNI shares went up Rp 30 to Rp 1,990, Antam shares surged Rp 25 to Rp 2,800, Kalbe Farma shares added Rp 10 to Rp 1,290, Antam shares Rp 25 to Rp 2,800 per share and Kalbe Farma shares advanced Rp10 to Rp 1,290 per share. Meanwhile, the Indonesian currency on Friday morning traded at Rp 9,423-Rp9,433 per US dollar, down 18 points from Rp 9,405-Rp9,415 points at the market’s close a day earlier.
