JAKARTA,KOMPAS.com — The unemployment rate in Indonesia in 2010 is estimated to remain approximately 10 percent. The 5.5 percent economic growth target is estimated insufficient to absorb the man power in the productive age group.

"The insufficient National Budget for infrastructure development clearly cannot suppress the unemployment rate. Especially since the economic growth rate is only 5 percent," said Finance and Human Resource Development Director of PPM Manajemen, Bramantyo Djohan Putro in the "Economic Outlook 2010" seminar in Jakarta, Thursday.

Indonesia needs a growth rate of at least 7.3 percent per year to lower the unemployment rate. That kind of growth is only feasible if the inflation rate is around 4 to 6 percent. The Indonesian interest rate must also be between 5 to 7 percent and the value of Rupiah around Rp. 9,500 tp Rp. 10,500 per USD. (C13-09/C17-09)
