JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Bara Hasibuan, a member of Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's campaign team, said Monday that Jusuf Kalla's statement about the Aceh peace process constituted a breach of state ethics.
Bara denied Kalla's claim that he was the only one who took the risks necessary to bring peace to Aceh, saying that all peace negotiations between the Indonesian government and the Free Aceh Movement (GAM) were approved by SBY.
"Jusuf Kalla is still the Vice President and part of the government led by SBY, he should not publicly criticize the head of state," Bara told Antara news agency.
He said that even though Kalla may have played the biggest role in bringing peace to Aceh, all articles in the Aceh peace treaty were examined by SBY before he signed it.
