TOKYO, KOMPAS.com - The rapidly expanding spread of the swine flu in Japan prompted the Indonesian representative offices in Japan to seriously monitor Indonesian nationals living in that country. Spokesperson for the Indonesian Consulate General in Osaka Masni Eriza said the health condition of Indonesians in Kansai region, covering Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto, are being closely monitored.
Eriza said his side had so far received no reports on Indonesians infected with the H1N1 strain. Kansai is currently being closely monitored by the Japanese government following the rapid spread of swine flu in the region.
A 1,000 schools including kindergartens, elementary schools, and colleges in the area had been declared closed for a week in the face of the H1N1 attack. The Kobe Festival, August 16 and 17, 2009, the pride of Kansai, had even been cancelled one day prior to its opening.
